Summer Series “Food Tour” in Carolina Beach

Jason and Carly Forman have been a huge fan of doing “food tours” for years… they wander around an area of town where they do 3 or 4 walk ins at different restaurants. They grab a seat at the bar and enjoy a cocktail and an appetizer or entree at each place to be able to try a variety of foods in one outing. They are kicking off a summer series food tour blog at Carolina Beach, NC! Be sure to stay tuned for their next tour blog coming up at the end of July. Check out the “foodie” finds on their tour this past weekend!

First stop was the Surfhouse.  This super cute little spot on Lake Park chooses to serve locally sourced food. At this restaurant, you will need a reservation during the season to eat dinner; we grabbed a seat at the “rail”, the bar was full. They were so busy during our “pop-in” that they couldn’t accommodate serving us appetizers at the rail, however they were so sweet and brought us out some Parker rolls with bourbon butter, very tasty! We will definitely be making a dinner reservation here soon.

Next up was a quick drink at- The Last Resort Bar… a very interesting little bar where what you see, is what you get! We enjoyed it.

We headed up to Soul Flavor for our next stop. We ordered the Pimento cheese pizzetta, without mushrooms (Jason is not a fan lol), it was so delicious! Great menu here, lots of great southern/island inspired entrees.

From Soul Flavor we walked over to Salt Fish. This place was my favorite of the night. You feel like you on really on vacation in some paradise island here. The décor and music screamed the Bahamas and so did the menu. We ordered the Ceviche and Polynesian Fried Chicken with Mac & Cheese. Phenonminal!! They also bring you a fresh little salad to start in a seashell.. such a cute touch! We can’t wait to go back.

Our next stop.. DESSERT!

Okay. For those of you who don’t know about Squigley’s Ice Cream and Treats in Carolina Beach you are SERIOUSLY missing out! This is a specialty ice cream shop that turns your favorite ice cream into a custom soft serve by adding in any of their over 40 topping choices, there’s nothing else quite like it. We went years never knowing about it until our dear friends, Katie & Houston, let us in on the secret. We had an Oreo Cheesecake waffle cone… Delish! Expect a line out the door when you go, but trust us… it’s worth the wait!

Stay tuned for more Foodie Fun in our summer series in Carolina Beach!
