On Monday, April 27th, 2020 local government officials declared Carolina Beach and Kure Beach to be reopened to the public, with restrictions. After much anticipation, officials have decided that “the curve”, referring to COVID-19 testing results, have flattened.
Restrictions will be as follows:
- Beaches will be open for exercise only
- People can walk, jog, swim, or surf
- Groups are restricted to no more than 10 people
- Sunbathing, sitting, and beach games will be prohibited
There will be no lifeguard on duty as well as no public bathrooms available. While this measure still comes with restrictions, officials believe that the beach offers a unique source of exercise for all citizens and should be utilized with caution.
