The City Council of Wilmington met in 2018 to review possible designs for North Waterfront Park. The city reviewed options based on the publics most desired priorities. These features include: higher quality materials that last longer with less maintenance, central water feature and a support building to reduce park costs.
Last October, the City council approved a sponsorship policy and $3-4 million is needed in additional funding to complete everything in the high cost design. More sponsorship opportunities are being reviewed with the hopes of reporting back early 2019. Construction on the North Waterfront Park is to start early 2019 as well.
